![]() Once you walked up a small ramp you’d be greeted at the Canadian Holidays check-in desk and given your room keys (yes, actual keys!). The “side entrance” was actually the shuttle bus drop off point back then. Why a side entrance, you ask? Well, back then Canadian Airlines was still very much in play and they, through their “Canadian Holidays” program, had a partnership with the Imperial Palace resulting in some pretty awesome package deals. I remember the first time I walked through the side casino entrance I was floored by the magnificence of the hotel – it was all so new and so exciting to my young mind. Nevertheless, the old IP remains significant for sentimental reasons.ĭuring my first visit to Vegas in 1994, and up to 1999, the Imperial Palace was our hotel of choice – almost uninterrupted. After the name change they opted to go elsewhere because the former Imperial Palace (now Linq) made it known through design and theme that they were looking to attract a much younger crowd. This place was my grandparents’ hotel of choice when they first started visiting Vegas in the early 1980s and it stayed their preferred hotel right up to and including its brief renaming as the Quad in 2012. ![]() Ah, The Imperial Palace! This place was 3 stars at best, but it holds a soft spot in my heart because it was the very first hotel I stayed in at Las Vegas.
